Cowboy???

So when I was younger I had this friend he was a "cowboy" he couldn't wait to spend the weekend at my moms farm. Mom raised Scottish Highlanders and she ran a murry gray bull we had raised him from a calf so he was really mellow like you could lay on him when he was sunning himself and scratch him he loved it but when my friend saw our bull he has stars in his eyes he wanted to be a bull rider so he saw smokey as a way to try it without getting put out on his face he begged my mom to let him try she just smiled and shook her head and said "if you can catch him you can try" mom didn't think he has a hope in hell of catching smokey just because a bull is mellow and sweet catching and riding is a whole different story truly mom and I didn't think smokey would hurt him I think mostly because no one thought he'd ever get a rope on him . We grabbed some grain to get smokey closer Brian has his hat and his rope yep he carried "his" ok he was a serious want to be but hey we all have to be something in the beginning. Well we headed out to the field even mom thought this was worth a walk to the field when we got to the gate I handed him the grain Brain looked at me eye a little wider than normal and I smiled he asked "your not coming in " I shook my head mom piped in " remember if YOU. Can catch him" so Brain adjusted his belt you know the way guys like him do shoved his hat down tight and headed into the pasture. With a few shakes of the grain and a few here cow here cow he had the small herd heading his way smokey bring up the back smokey was a big a stocky bull well over 2000 lbs the cows were begging for snacks I think it was Brian's plan to use the cow to kinda hide him and his rope. He carefully slipped the rope over smokey's head and then fed smokey some grain he thought he has this he looked over his shoulder with a shit eating grin mom again shook her head " this is not going to end well" I had warned him that it might not be as easy as he thought but Brian was sure of himself. I hollered at Brian to be careful about keeping his hands from get tangled Brain chuckled and hollard back "I GOT THIS" about that time smokey discovered the rope he pulled his head away from Brian and the rope tightened and that was it smokey's que he turned and pulled Brian off his feet more more he ran the tighter the rope got and the faster smokey ran at first we thought Brian would just let go but he didn't first time past us we all yelled let go of the rope but he didn't he just held on second time we were all screaming let go Brian just turned his face to us and smiled cow poo and all after that no one was worried we maybe worried but if he was truly dumb enough to hold on we would enjoy the view so the end of pen that was farthest from us was wet covered in poo and other things see our pour has a overflows pipe there heck I didn't like to walk across that let alone be drug threw it and that's exactly where smokey head cow bellowing man screaming NO..... yep you guessed it smokey had had enough he zigzagged though the mud over the trenches from the tractor we could see Brain bouncing still this idiot held on covered from head to foot with nothing you would want to step through he bounded my mother chuckled and not in that your funny more in the way when you are someone doing something so stupid you know they can not be right in the head she grabbed the grain can and walked into the pasture shook the can 3 time and yelled at the top of her lungs "SMOKEY TO ME" just once it always impressed me how the animals respected my mom. That 2000 lbs bull lifted his head and turned at the sound of her voice he came barreling in human anchor in tow. And came to a complete stop about 2 feet from her out stretched hand lowering his head for a good scratch mom pulled the rope loose and over smokey's head and walked to Brian's pro body we all gathered there looking expecting to see blood and gore but we say that same shit eating grin my mom asked "WHY IN GODS GREEN EARTH DIDN'T YOU LET GO " Brain said "Oh Heck ma'am  I was just wearing him out" which goes to show some people really do not have the brains god gave a Goose

Needless to say Brian never did ride that bull and smokey he spent the rest of his life soaking in the sun my mom she never looked at Brian the same way again she knew there was something not right with that boy .
